Proceeds From the Event Will Enable Baltimore City School Children to Visit Sports Legends Museum at Camden Yards & the Babe Ruth Birthplace for Free in Art Modell's Name for an Entire Year
Baltimore, MD - The Babe Ruth Museum today announced that its October gala will celebrate NFL pioneer Art Modell. "Thanks, Art! A Celebration of Art Modell," presented by the Baltimore Ravens and M&T Bank, will take place on Tuesday, October 23 at Valley Mansion in Cockeysville, Maryland. Proceeds from the event will benefit Baltimore City school children via the educational programs of the Babe Ruth Birthplace Foundation, Inc. In Art Modell's name, these children will receive free admission for an entire year to both Sports Legends Museum at Camden Yards and the Babe Ruth Birthplace.
"We are privileged to honor Art Modell for his many contributions to Baltimore, both on and off the football field, and the impact he had in shaping the NFL," stated Mike Gibbons, Executive Director of the Babe Ruth Museum. "Mr. Modell's decisive act to return the NFL to Baltimore has had a profound impact on our City and his generosity has greatly improved our community."
The Museum's annual gala celebrates a significant figure or crowning achievement in Maryland sports history. The event on October 23 will include a special tribute to Art Modell (the list of dignitaries who will participate in the event will be announced soon), silent auction, carving stations/hors d'oeuvres and open premium bar. In recognition of Mr. Modell's numerous accomplishments, the Museum will unveil a specially designed plaque in his honor that will become a prominent piece of the Ravens' Gallery in Sports Legends Museum.
Sponsorship opportunities for the gala range from $2,500 to $10,000, and tickets are available to members of the Babe Ruth Museum for $125 and non-members for $150. The unique design of the event only allows for reserved seating at the top sponsorship levels. Sponsorship information and tickets are available by calling 410.727.1539 ext. 3013 or by visiting www.baberuthmuseum.com. Current sponsors include the Baltimore Ravens, M&T Bank, The Examiner, The Oregon Grille, Mt. Washington Tavern, Smyth Jewelers and WBAL-AM.

Sports Legends Museum is also the home of the Official Ravens' Team Store. For more than three decades, the Babe Ruth Birthplace has served as a shrine to George Herman "Babe" Ruth as it features exhibits on his life and times. |
