SPORTS LEGENDS MUSEUM AT CAMDEN YARDS UNVEILING SPECIAL EXHIBIT DEDICATED TO “THE GREATEST
GAME EVER PLAYED”

Exhibit Opens on December 23rd & Contains Unique Artifacts from 1958 Championship

Baltimore, MD – Sports Legends Museum at Camden Yards today announced that it will open a new exhibit honoring Baltimore’s first football champions, the 1958 Baltimore Colts, and celebrating the 50th anniversary of “The Greatest Game Ever Played.”  The exhibit will open on December 23, 2008 and run through June 30, 2009. Sports Legends Museum is operated by the Babe Ruth Museum, the official archives of the Baltimore Colts.

In addition to profiling the team and its historic season, the exhibit will include a look at the people that made football in Baltimore special - the fans, cheerleaders, band and team owner, Carroll Rosenbloom.  Among the items that will be on display in the exhibit include Johnny Unitas’ 1958 Championship ring; the football from the historic game; the 1958 contracts of running back Lenny Moore and Head Coach Weeb Ewbank; a piece of the goalpost signed by the entire team; a 1958 Championship game program and ticket; a 1958 Press Book and much more.

“The 1958 Championship game was a defining moment for the City of Baltimore, not just professional football,” stated Mike Gibbons, executive director of the Babe Ruth Museum. “Unitas, Berry, Moore, Donovan…these players captured the hearts of Baltimoreans, so we are excited to showcase a number of unique items celebrating the extraordinary spirit of the 1958 game.”

Beginning on December 20th, the Museum will also commemorate the 1958 Baltimore Colts’ victory by offering a special flat admission rate of $5.80 to Sports Legends Museum through January 4, 2009.

Located adjacent to the main gate of Oriole Park, Sports Legends Museum at Camden Yards consists of 22,000 square feet of artifacts and interactive exhibits profiling Maryland’s sports history. Whether it is a walk down memory lane honoring the players and teams of Baltimore’s yesteryear, or enjoying the endeavors of today’s local sports scene, the Museum provides something for fans of all ages.
